A woman named Audrey E. Hale has been identified as the perpetrator of the shooting at a Nashville school, which resulted in at least six deaths, including three children and three adults.
The woman was 28 years old and had been a student at Covenant Catholic School in the Tennessee city.
According to local media, her family resided in Nashville, but investigators had difficulty contacting her mother and brother.
However, they were able to speak with the woman’s father. Audrey Hale worked as an illustrator and graphic designer and had legally obtained two assault rifles and a handgun.
After breaking into the school through a side door, she was confronted by five officers, two of whom fatally shot her.
Police found a manifesto written by the woman, in which she explained the reasons that led her to commit the act. Police believe her actions were targeted because she had the blueprints of the property on which the school stood.
Audrey Hale identified as transgender, and various posts attributed to her with her graphic designs have circulated on social media.
The police are searching the woman’s home, where they entered after detonating a grenade against the door.
